On Tuesday, June 9th (7:00 to 7:30 a.m. PDT), please join the Center for Global Nursing for a Global Nursing Impact Series conversation with Patricia Efe Azikiwe and Evelyn Bigini, highlighting providers’ experiences caring for patients with perinatal depression, the occupational impact of this care, and the coping strategies used by clinicians at Koidu Government Hospital.

Patricia Efe Azikiwe, BS, RN, RM, is the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Clinical Program Manager at Partners In Health in Kono District, Sierra Leone. As the focal person for Perinatal Maternal Mental Health at Partners in Health, Sierra Leone, Patricia’s work focuses on strengthening maternal and newborn health outcomes through capacity building and mentorship of healthcare providers. Patricia is also recognized as one of the pioneers of the Mother-to-Mother Support Initiative in Benin City, Nigeria, an intervention that promotes exclusive breastfeeding through healthcare worker training and community engagement.

Evelyn Bigini, PhD(c), MSc, RN, is a PhD Candidate at the UCSF School of Nursing and a Graduate Student Researcher with UCSF Global Action in Nursing (GAIN). Her work focuses on assessing and improving perinatal mental health in collaboration with Partners In Health in Sierra Leone. Her projects include education and research related to the mental health of both patients and healthcare providers.
