CGN's Certificate in Global Nursing

Over the course of 12 virtual sessions, the CGN Certificate in Global Nursing Program provides participants with an in-depth understanding of foundational concepts in global health sciences, including global nursing practice, health systems, cultural humility, and equitable partnerships.  

This certificate program is ideal for nurses and advanced practice providers (APPs) that are:  

  • Interested in exploring key concepts of global health sciences for professional development  
  • Exploring global health sciences as a potential career pathway 
  • Working in global health, but have not yet had the opportunity to obtain training in global health sciences 

Course Details

This course includes a weekly two-hour live virtual session, accompanied by required readings and asynchronous online activities. Students should expect to dedicate a minimum of 4-5 hours per week to both synchronous and asynchronous coursework.

  • All courses are held online from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. PST/5 p.m. - 7 p.m. CEST.

Course Objectives

This program is designed to equip nurses and advanced practice providers to lead global health interventions by providing the tools to: 

  • Apply the principles of the WHO 2020 Nursing Report, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the ICN’s International Nurses Day 2024 Report, and the global burden of disease to create sustainable global health solutions.
  • Analyze health disparities and implement strategies to promote social justice in healthcare.
  • Develop skills to strengthen health systems using the WHO Building Blocks framework and innovative, sustainable approaches.
  • Understand and foster bidirectional partnerships and collaborations in diverse cultural settings, with a focus on equity and continuous learning.
