Register for April 14th Global Nursing Impact Series

On Tuesday, April 14th (7:00 to 7:30 a.m. PDT), please join the Center for Global Nursing for a Global Nursing Impact Series conversation with Joyce Jere and Ellen Schell, highlighting the work of the Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) and long-standing partnerships in Malawi.

Joyce Jere, MPH, BS, RNM, is a Malawian Registered Nurse Midwife and GAIA’s Malawi Country Director. She leads national programs, partnerships, and health system strengthening efforts, including expanding access to community-based primary care. With more than three decades of experience, Joyce brings deep expertise and leadership grounded in the Malawian health system and community priorities.

Ellen Schell, PhD, RN, is an Adjunct Professor at the UCSF School of Nursing and served as GAIA’s International Programs Director for 20 years. During this time, in partnership with Malawian colleagues, GAIA supported the training of more than 600 community health workers, launched seven mobile clinics, and contributed to nursing education initiatives that have supported over 900 students, with more than 700 graduates now serving in Malawi.
This session will explore how sustained, locally led partnerships have strengthened the nursing workforce, expanded access to care, and supported community-driven approaches to health.
