The Roving Community Health Initiative is a team of UCSF clinicians (RN, NP, PA) who work alongside community organizations and volunteers to provide vaccinations, wound care, and harm reduction in San Francisco, primarily in the Tenderloin and South of Market.
Most of the work is on "roving teams" serving our unhoused and marginally housed community members.
Shifts are paid but voluntary and on top of your regular position at UCSF. RCHI covers your time (including OT when applicable), so your home department is not charged.
You need manager approval to pick up shifts, and shifts should be fine with your home department schedule.
Regular opportunities are:
- Thursday and Saturday
- 11 am to 4:30 pm (5 hours paid after 30-minute break deducted)
The first hour of each shift includes prep and orientation for newcomers. Clinicians go out in pairs to work together and support each other. Newcomers are paired with somebody with experience.
If you have questions or want to sign up for shifts, email [email protected].
